Prairie Rodeo Museum
Housed at Ogallala’s Front Street, the new Prairie Rodeo Museum is dedicated to preserving and promoting the state’s rodeo history. The initial collection includes memorabilia contributed by the family of Nebraska rodeo legend Wayne “Tuffy” Barent. Barent, who passed away in April, 2016, was the Nebraska State Bareback Champion from 1956 to 1958. Exhibit items include buckles and awards, as well as a saddle and leather luggage crafted by the late Ogallala saddle maker Wes Feusner. Organizers plan to add to the collection and commemorate all aspects of the sport of rodeo. For more information about the Prairie Rodeo Museum, contact Barb Barent at 308-883-1908.
